Ask, Seek, and Knock

Categories: ReligionHumor

A man prayed one morning, "Please, God, let me win the lottery."  But by the end of the day, he hadn't won.

The next day, he prayed again.  "Please, God, let me win the lottery."  But again, he failed to win.

The man was persistent and prayed again the third morning.  "Please, God, let me win the lottery."  This time a voice came down from Heaven.

"Work with a lottery ticket!"

1 Thessalonians 5:17 tells us to "pray continually", but prayer alone isn't enough, even if you pray continuously.

Matthew 6:26 reads "Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them."  But do these birds sit on a branch with their mouths open waiting for God to feed them?  No!  They must go hunting and digging for their food.  The mother must work to find, catch, and deliver food to the young.  So while we should always pray, and God promises to answer our prayers, that doesn't mean we no longer need to put forth an effort.

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." (Matthew 7:7)  It's up to you to ask, seek, and knock.

Thanks, Steve, for the joke, and for all your words of wisdom.
