Personally, I think we have a lot of work to do before we reach the top.  I also believe that one of the reasons so many people around the world want to destroy us is because 1) we keep bragging about how awesome we are while we have some serious problems that have been ignored decade after decade, and 2) we keep sticking our noses in their nation's business as if we have the solutions to their problems when we can't even fix our own.  Haiti is a current example of that.  Yes, humanitarian aid is admirable, but Vice President Joe Biden's comment that we're in it "for the long haul" means that the U.S. is seizing this opportunity to establish a greater presence in Haiti and excercise more control over the country.  This after the local, state, and federal governments' responses (or lack of) to their own people following the 2005 Hurricane Katrina proved in some ways to be a bigger disaster than the hurricane itself.

If we're truly the best, any reasonably intelligent person will recognize that and we won't need to brag about it.  If we're not the best (and we're not), let's humble down a bit, and focus on our own issues before we interfere with those of other countries.  Even after we've perfected our game, with a few rare exceptions, let's allow the rest of the world overcome their own challenges, and provide assistance only when they truly need it and ask for it.
