Iowa's "Ag-Gag"

According to foodsafetynews.com, Iowa's House File 589 "gives Iowa's county sheriffs a long list of possible violations to charge once it is disclosed that any filming or recording was done without the permission of [an] animal facility owner."

The bill, known as the "ag-gag" law, will make it a crime to surreptitiously get into a farming operation to record video of animal abuse.

"Everything that lives and moves about will be food for you.  Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything."

Genesis 9:3 (NIV)

While I am an omnivore, I do believe that animal abuse is unforgivable.  I'll do what I can to determine the origin of any food products I buy, and I'll boycott any products from Iowa.

According to this wikipedia.org article on Iowa, major Iowa agricultural product processors include Archer Daniels Midland Company; Ajinomoto; Cargill, Inc.; Diamond V Mills; Garst Seed Company; Heartland Pork Enterprises; Hy-Vee (an employee-owned chain of supermarkets); Monsanto Company; Pioneer Hi-Bred International; and Quaker Oats (owned by Pepsico), makers of many popular products including Cap'n Crunch and Life cereals, Aunt Jemima syrups and mixes, Chewy Granola Bars, Rice-A-Roni, and Gatorade (bold emphasis mine).
