Judge Orders Christian Baker to Provide Gay Couples with Wedding Cakes

Despite the fact that the Colorado constitution reads, "Only a union of one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized as marriage in this state", a Colorado judge has ordered a Lakewood baker, against his Christian beliefs, to accommodate gay couples' requests for wedding cakes.

Jack Phillips, owner of the Masterpiece Cakeshop had declined a request made by gay couple David Mullins and Charlie Craig to provide them with a wedding cake at their Colorado reception, which would follow their ceremony in Massachusetts where same-sex unions are recognized as marriage.

Phillips believes that by providing the cake, he would be participating in the same-sex marriage, which he opposes due to his Christian belief that a marriage is between one man and one woman.

Judge Robert Spencer of the Colorado Office of Administrative Courts equates Phillips' decision to racial bias, and ruled in the gay couple's favor.

But would Phillips refuse to participate in the same-sex marriage if the participants were not gay?  In other words, if two male heterosexuals wanted to marry and chose to buy a wedding cake at the Masterpiece Cakeshop, would Phillips decline the request?  If so, his religious beliefs would apply equally to both heterosexuals and homosexuals, and there would be no discrimination.  This would eliminate Judge Robert Spencer's argument that Phillips' decision is biased.

The Christian belief in "one man, one woman" applies equally to everyone regardless of sexual lifestyle or preference.

Injecting the "gay" element is simply a ploy to induce emotions that support the claim of discrimination.  But the truth is there is no discrimination, and never has been.  Those who oppose same-sex marriage do so based on their Christian or other religious teaching that marriage is between one man and one woman.

There is absolutely no opposition to gays marrying as long as the marriage meets the traditional one man, one woman requirement.
