Pharaon

There's history to this that I don't know.  Here's what I do know:

I'm walking down the Strip and hear this beautiful Spanish guitar music.  Oliver Maldonado travels and sometimes plays on the streets of Las Vegas.  His music was good enough for me to drop $10 on his CD (and later bought two more for gifts).

Track 2 on his CD is a song called Pharaon, which quickly became one of my two favorites, the other being Las Vegas (imagine that).

When I hear music I like, I tend to search for the origin, the composer, covers, etc.  In my search for the background on Pharaon, I discovered the song had been recorded and performed by a group called The Gypsy Kings.

I listened to a number of YouTube recordings.  One in particular performed by Chico & the Gypsies caught my attention.

According to a Wikipedia article on Chico & the Gypsies, Chico Bouchikhi, the soloist in this video, was a founding member of The Gypsy Kings.  He formed Chico and the Gypsies in 1992.

Enough history.
